STIKES Bali (Institute of Health Sciences Bali) was developed from a vocational school of nursing. The vocational school was established in Bali in 1983 by the Founding Fathers which now called as Yayasan Perkumpulan Penyelenggara Pendidikan, Latihan dan Pelayanan Kesehatan Bali (YP3LPK Bali) or best known as the STIKES Bali Foundation.
Work to further expand the Nursing Vocational School began in 2003. The school was developed into an academy, which accepted high school graduates to be its students. At that time, the academy only offered a three-year Diploma program in Nursing. The nursing academy continued to develop and in 2005 offered two other courses, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (5 years program) and Diploma in Midwifery (3 years program). From then, the academy was changed into an institute and named STIKES Bali (Institute of Health Sciences Bali). Since that time, STIKES Bali has grown and now accommodates over 2000 students.
